Research Proposal Writing Assignment:

Task: To complete this assignment, students will develop a research proposal that describe a plan for a specific research project based on readings, workshop discussions and the work they have done throughout the semester focusing on a research question. It is required that the proposal must me contextualised to a specific research topic/question that could be researched. Students are expected to clearly explain what they are planning to research, to describe why they want to research their chosen topic/question and to provide an overview of the anticipated outcome of their research proposal. Students are also expected to demonstrate a clear evidence of understanding the debates about Qualitative vs. Quantitative Traditions that might involve matters to do with the hegemony of the positivist paradigm and quantitative data; questions about evidence-based research; binaries and the messiness of research; understanding how research is useful, meaning-making and understanding the social.
