Theme: Enhancing and Understanding the Significance of Indian Cultures and Traditions through Design
Food is one of the main cultural attributes in the Indian context. There is a need for encouraging the younger generation to take up Indian traditional Culinary studies, which has earned global respect. India’s ancient and traditional culinary practices that are an amalgamation of way of healthy living and taste for the tongue get more importance in the bigger picture of global cuisine, growing the swadeshi brand of cuisine.
A Culinary global village will be a boon for the youth of the country and food lovers from across the world.
Hypothesis: To design a Glocal Cuisine Campus that ignites the Cognitive senses through a Harmonious Integration of Architecture and Urban Farming.
Aim: To design a Culinary Art institution imparting knowledge on world Cuisines and a Food Experience centre which explores the cuisines of various parts of India, fusing itself with the Urban Farming concept.
Objective: To understand the intrinsic ideas of culture, geography, native food practices and their influence on design.
To understand and amalgamate external factors like site, services and approach in the design program.
To develop or view architecture, design and site planning as aids in bringing together various cuisines and ideologies related to food.
Scope: The scope of the project is understanding the requirements for a Culinary Art institute and Designing a space which can display and showcase the Cuisines of India making the Urban dwellers experience the cultures and traditions of rural india.
The culinary school, which is an important part of the campus looks to impart global knowledge on food in an attempt to provide holistic education to its students.
The Public realm between the public experience centre and the private culinary institution needs to be tackled and designed.
The Basic Requirements for the Global Cuisine Village:
• Culinary Art School with boarding facilities for a 4 years course.
• A Food Experience Centre
• Urban Farming amalgamating the built-up areas.
• Public- Private interface areas to be designed.
