There are three components to this assignment as outlined below: 

Section 1

Source (and possibly amend) an appropriate Fact Finder instrument that includes a gradable risk profile assessment; 

Required: 

• Research and locate various fact-finding documents that are publicly available 

• Select and review your chosen document and make any amendments you deem appropriate

Section 2

Interview a “client” who is working full-time with at least one dependent to collect data (fact find) and to assess and discuss his or her risk profile; 

Required: 

• Using your chosen fact-finding document, interview a “client” to complete the data gathering step in the financial planning process 

• Reflect on the process of your interview, think about how easy or client-friendly your chosen fact-find document was to use and how appropriate it is for its stated purpose 

• Evaluate the Fact Find and Risk Profile design – consider benefits, shortfalls and opportunities for improvement 

Section 3

Prepare and submit a report addressing the requirements in Section 1 and Section 2. 

Required:

Your report should include a discussion of: Justification of your choice of Fact Find and Risk Profile Documents (1-2 pages discussion) 

• Justify your choice of Fact Finder instrument 

• Discuss any amendments you made before undertaking the client interview 

• Include a copy of your completed Fact Find in an appendix 

• IMPORTANT: Ensure the client’s name is removed or changed for privacy reasons Reflection on the interview process with the client (2-3 pages) 

• Reflect on the interview process – did your chosen document help or hinder the process? 

• Evaluate the design of the fact finder and assessment of risk profile including discussing recommendations to improve it eg What might you add or remove from the document? 

• Include a copy of your completed fact-find as an appendix Structure & Referencing 

• Ensure your report is written in easy-to-read language and is professionally presented 

• Include references and acknowledge the source of your chosen documents
