Highlights
Introduction
In this document, there is a detailed scenario about the development of artificial intelligence functionalities for a minesweeper game. You should carefully read this scenario then understand, analyse and implement it. This is a Group-based coursework.
This assessment requires you to work in a group (typically with the size of 5 members). Your group will be automatically formed by the module leader to ensure balanced groups throughout the whole cohort.
You will be informed about your group’s composition via the Canvas VLE (see canvas’s people tab). Your group membership will not be alterable during the semester (unless some special circumstances arise).
To coordinate your efforts, your team will be expected to follow the SCRUM software development methodology (introduced in this module). The selection of the SCRUM master and product owner roles within the team is up to the teammates (and for balanced group behaviour it is recommended that you rotate these roles among team members). As per SCRUM methodology, coming up with potential group tasks and selecting the tasks to complete should be a group effort already (i.e., not the role of the
SCRUM master or product owner). Also, task assignment to group members should not be done by the SCRUM master either (everyone is responsible for choosing their own task from the list of available tasks at the moment when they are ready to work on a task).
This coursework is in 4 parts, your group should attempt all parts of this coursework:
Part 1: Documentation for the intended software
Part 2: Test cases confirming the software design
Part 3: Implemented artificial intelligence
Part 4: Individual group reflection report and peer- assessment
Learning Outcomes to be assessed
1 Understand how to plan problem solutions as part of a technical team.
2 Describe computer science solutions through specification, design and implementation of software.
3 Analyse computer programs; determining the behaviour of the program from its source code and rewriting or adding to existing code.
4 Recognise the facilities offered by modern CASE tools such as integrated development environments and source code repositories.
