Introduction:
Students will work in groups of 3 or 4 students and undertake a structural design. This is based on the Structural Concrete Competition run by the Concrete Centre in 2019-2020.

Learning Outcome to be assessed:
Produce and critically review safe, sustainable and economical designs of structures in accordance with the current codes of practice.

Detail of the task:
The details of the task are set out in this year ‘Structural Concrete 2020 competition’ produced by The Concrete Centre and available to you on Canvas.

What you should hand in:
Your group report, following the criteria, set out in the Concrete Centre Competition rules. Please ensure that you keep a copy of your report and drawings in case it is needed.

Each team member must also submit a short (5 single-spaced A4 pages maximum), independently generated, report, including at least the following sections

The final marks for each individual student will vary if the peer assessment shows that there has been the unequal contribution to the group. Unequal in either quantity or quality of work, and/or contribution to the group dynamics.

Extenuating Circumstances:

If something serious happens that means that you will not be able to complete this assignment, you need to contact the module leader as soon as possible. There are a number of things that can be done to help, such as extensions, waivers and alternative assessments, but we can only arrange this if you tell us. To ensure that the system is not abused, you will need to provide some evidence of the problem. Any coursework submitted late without the prior agreement of the module leader will receive 0 marks.
