A University in the West Midlands has acquired a brownfield site that is currently used a car parking, the University is planning to develop the site by constructing a new multi-purpose building over five floors including teaching / lecture rooms, offices, social areas, food hall and IT labs.  The key planning approvals have been completed and the University has the finance in place to develop the build including all works up to fixtures and fittings.  An award winning architect was appointed to design the building and internal spaces, this work has been completed and approved by the University board.  There is currently a number of stakeholder meetings being held in the region and the following key issues have been raised. 

-How will be loss of 500 car parking spaces in the city be addresses? 
 
-The site access is on a major A road and how with disruption be managed at rush hour? 
 
-With the building being five floors what are the light implications for the surrounding houses /gardens? 
 
-How many local jobs will be created in both the construction phases and when the building opens? 
 
-How much of the materials being used is being imported?  The target time to complete the project from the start date is 12 month, snagging to be completed during the summer and final hand over to be on the 1/8/2023, with official opening on the 1/9/2023 ready to be used in the academic year 2023/24.
