For an organisation of your choice*, you are required to submit a pre-recorded PowerPoint presentation and a 3,500 words case study demonstrating critical analysis of their supply chain strategy and the impact of this on the organisation and its future direction. Students are expected to use academic models and frameworks studied during this module in the development of their case studies.

The case study should address the following tasks:

1. Critically discuss the supply chain strategy your chosen organisation has pursued over the last 3-5 years. Considerations should be given to what was the intended strategy against what had actually happened (the realised strategy).
2. Critically evaluate the key Global environmental challenges (external and internal) that affected the supply chain strategy of the organisation during the last 3-5 years. Based on your evaluation, conclude how successful your chosen organisation was in addressing these challenges.
3. Based on the critical discussion and evaluation in tasks 1 and 2, conclude whether the present supply chain strategy of your chosen organisation is sustainable or not. Support your opinion with a range of academic frameworks. Students are expected to critically discuss the sustainability of company’s competitive advantage and its strategic direction over a long term.
4. Develop and critically discuss at least 3 strategic supply chain options to ensure the success of your organisation in the future. Evaluate the options and recommend the most appropriate one for the organisation to go forward. Students must be clear in differentiating strategic options from operational plans, strategic from tactical and long-term strategic intent from the short-term moves. Key performance indicators i.e Revenue, Cost, Profit etc. should also be considered and discussed.
5. Following on from 4, critically discuss a range of implementation issues for your selected option, giving considerations for impact, timescale, and ownership within the organisation.

An individual case study should meet the following criteria:

• 3,500 words (+/-10%), submitted via the e-submission portal. excluding the title page, table of content, references and appendixes.
• Please use appendices to evidence your analysis and evaluation of data as well as for any supplemental materials needed. The main body of your case study will be accounting for 3,500, however in-depth applications of the frameworks, data analyses and supplementary company and market data should be presented in appendices.
• It has to be appropriately formatted and styled;
• It should be appropriately referenced using Harvard Referencing Standard demonstrating a variety of referencing sources: books, academic journals and credible web-sites;
• For grading guidance please refer to the Postgraduate Grading Scale which can be found on the module Blackboard in the Assessment section.
• All case studies are to be submitted via e-submission portal to meet the submission deadline.

6. POWERPOINT PRESENTATION

You will be required to submit and formally present a pre-recorded PowerPoint presentation which demonstrates a chronological timeline indicating the key events and their impact on the organisation and its strategy during the last 3-5 years. In addition it should also track against the timeline the patterns of strategic action and decision making. You will be expected to discuss and critically evaluate these when you formally present. The PowerPoint presentation should be no more than 6 slides (excluding Introduction and Contents) and the presentation should take between 10-15 minutes.
