The following report analyses the supply chain of Titan Group Australia which hires and operates cranes and man and material hoists in the Australian and New Zealand construction industries. The report is limited to the direct upstream supply chain of two original equipment manufacturers, Jaso and Stros, and the downstream customers being builders in the construction industry.

To appreciate the supply chain strategy required for future success this report will review the past and current strategies employed. The progress was measured against the four stages of supply chain integration as put forward by Christopher, 2016. Twenty years ago Titan was classed as stage 1 in the supply chain of integration or baseline, as Titan grew their crane and hoist fleets, the relationship between the upstream and downstream partners evolved and the supply chain matured to Stage II or functional integration. Challenges before this competitive supply chain were product innovation, cost-efficiency, and improved customer experience.

Titan and their supply chain partners are emerging to Stage III internal integration with some early successes as the supply chain works in unison with limited end-to-end planning. Some current challenges are new rules of competition, globalisation of industry and competitive downward pressure on pricing. As the integrated supply chain continues to embrace this third stage this report recommends that Titan and the up and down stream partners work and plan towards operating in Stage four or the external integration to continue to be competitive against other supply chains.
