Question 1
Consider a 4-diode bridge rectifier that rectifies a *-24V square wave output of an inverter. Draw the circuit. For now. assume a 10-ohm resistive load. Model the forward characteristics of each diode with an on-voltage of I volt plus an internal resistance of 0.5 ohm. Model the reverse (leakage) characteristics of each diode are ideal. Draw tidy graphs of the input. output as well as diode voltages (careful!). Show calculations to obtain graph values. Dm, % tidy graphs of the input, output as well as diode current (careful!). Calculate the efficiency of the circuit by drawing graphs of input and load power (instantaneous). Also draw a power graph per diode. From the graphs. specify the required diodes to be purchased. adding an 80% safety factor to voltage spas (diode oil) and 50% safety factor to current and power specs (averaged). Hint: consider positive and negative half cycles separately, and redraw the circuit for each. 115 narks/

Question 2
Draw and design a 12-V voltage regulator based on a parallel zener (with series limiting resistor) that would suit a filtered dc power supply output that fluctuates between 14 V and 16 V. The load is resistive and draws 20 W. Determine the required values and power specifications of the zener as well as the limiting resistor. Assume an ideal 12-V zener diode. You may use average input conditions to cakulate power specs as the input voltage is known to fluctuate periodically. Is this a good and efficient option to use a zener regulator for this 20 W power supply?

Question 3
First do a dc (biasing) analysis and then an ac (amplification) analysis of the emitter-stabilised CE setup shown below. Assume a Class A setup with the Q-point centered on the load line and a = = 100. Show that a base resistor of approx. 1.24 MS) is required. Redraw the circuit for the ac case before starting your analysis, and then redraw with the NPN transistor replaced with the r, model. You may assume that the influence of r, is negligible. What is the t'S change in voltage gain, if a 1 MI load resistor is connected?
