2019 was the year of Indigenous language. The United Nations General Assembly noted that “40 per cent of the estimated 6,700 languages spoken around the world were in danger of disappearing. The fact that most of these are indigenous languages puts the cultures and knowledge systems to which they belong at risk” (UNESCO 2018). The United Nations has called for urgent actions to preserve and revitalise Indigenous language around the world.

Topic 2 - Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)
Background
 

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders are a group of conditions which occur as a result of exposure of the fetus to alcohol. There are a number of disorders which sit under this umbrella which present as a range of physical, cognitive, behavioural and neurodevelopmental disabilities. Abnormalities associated with these conditions are represented by deficits in executive functioning, memory problems, speech and language delays. The prevalence of FASD in Australia is unclear due to the stigma associated with it.

Topic 3 - Our ageing population: COVID 19 the global health concern of the century
Background

There is no doubt that the world as we know it Post COVID 19 will never return to the normal that we knew. The global population is dealing with a pandemic which has presented a myriad of problems to understand and find solutions to. For Psychologists, it has presented a number of issues which will impact our practice and our understanding of recognised disorders and peoples ability tocope with them for decades to come. The prevalence of mental health disorders and documented challenges to social and emotional wellbeing for people all around the world indicate the depth of the challenge facing us as the pandemic continues to evolve. Our society has been thrown into a state of flux as we grapple with social isolation, loneliness, fear and panic. These topics focus on the impact of Cognitive Psychology as we begin to comprehend the repercussions of the world in which we now live.
 

Elderly people around the world have been one of the hardest-hit groups since the COVID 19 pandemic unfolded. Social isolation and loneliness have taken their toll on this group, and those with
