Project Summary

Because most of the malware attacks are occurring in the form of worms there is a need to come up with protective ways in which strong Intrusion Detection Systems can be used to prevent such attacks. In this proposal, a method of detection of worms is going to be illustrated to ensure the safety of the networks. This is going to function by aggregating the data packets that are coming from the outside and then analyzing them. After this, it is expected that the data will be extracted and analyzed to ascertain if there are threats in the form of worms. A data mining technique will be used in this case. Upon detection, a sound warning will be raised in form of an alarm to inform the personnel in charge. Rules technique units will be used in order to identify and remove the worms.
