This part will contribute 15% of student’s final mark. The part will be due on Sunday, 8 August 2021 (Week 10) at 11:59 PM AEDT. Students are to form groups of 3 -4 members. You should give careful consideration to the selection of members comprising the group. All groups formed are to provide the names of members to the Lecturer. It is very important for all members to take an active part in completing the assignment and make an equal contribution. Students must notify the Lecturer in a timely manner and provide substantiating documentation of any problems in relation to group work. This includes any member of the group not contributing to the team efforts.
Only one copy of the completed assignments have to be uploaded on Moodle by the group leader. Students should retain both hard and electronic copies of all work submitted for assessment.
Late submission of assignments: Due date will be strictly adhered to marks deducted for late submission in accordance with Stott’s College marking guidelines (5% per day, including public holiday and weekends). Only in the case of exceptional circumstances, students may apply for extensions for submission.

The task focuses on developing your practical knowledge and skills to analyse accounting information in the financial statements of an ASX listed company. You will need to prepare a group report on the company’s financial performance, financial position trend over a period of two years and on the company’s sustainability performance.
Part 1 – Business Report – Group Assignment (15%)
Part 1 objective:
Part 1 of your group assignment requires the completion and submission of a business report of approximately 2000 words of Coca-Cola Amatil (CCL) that includes calculations and analysis of all relevant ratios for a two-year period (2018 and 2019) with the purpose of establishing the company’s:
profitability
operating efficiency
liquidity and solvency and
market performance
Plus a comprehensive analysis of the company sustainability.

Step 1: preparation
Review chapter 10 of the prescribed textbook and make sure you can:
Calculate financial ratiosInterpret the meaning of each financial ratio; and
Use financial ratios to assess a company’s financial performance, financial position and market performance.
Step 2: financial analysis
Calculate and analyse all relevant ratios for a two- year period 2018- 2019.
Analyse the changes in the following ratios of the company based on your two-year calculations:
profitability
operating efficiency
liquidity and solvency
market performance
Note:
To enable a comprehensive analysis of your company, you will need to include additional relevant information in relation to the performance of, and existence of competitors and regulatory and/or environmental factors influencing your company/industry. When undertaking your company research, you must utilise current financial press (such as The Age, Financial Review, The Australian, or appropriate relevant on-line business sites*). A minimum of four articles relevant to your company (or industry sector) over the period of analysis must be incorporated into your report discussion. You are encouraged to use more than four to support your discussion where required.
Step 3: Investigate and write a report on your findings about sustainability performance of the company. Review chapter 3 of your prescribed textbook and make sure you understand the concept of sustainability.
Step 4: write the group reports (financial analysis and sustainability performance), and include all references.
* Appropriate business sites do not include sources such as Wikipedia, Investopedia, MyAccountingCourse or similar. These sites are not regarded as appropriate academic sources.
Formatting Requirements:
Your report must adhere to the structure set out below: 
 
Section 1: title page
The title page should be the first page of your report. It must include the following information:
Title: ‘Analysis and interpretation of the performance of (name of company)’ Unit code and unit name: ACC103 – Accounting for Business Decision. 
Name of the Lecturer: Dr Soheila Mirshekary (for Melbourne Students) Or Dr Mahbub Alam (For Perth Students). 
A table with the group number, the full names and student ID of team members. 
Due date Sunday 8th August by 4.00pm (AEST). If granted a time extension, then the revised date approved by the Lecturer (show approved date). 
Section 2: introduction (maximum 200 words)
