The following list comprises the topics for your research project. Students must choose ONE topic only and advise the subject coordinator in the Tutorial in Week 3 of their choice. Students that do not advise the subject coordinator by Week 3 will be allocated a project. Please note: students are not permitted to change their project topic. Guidance for all topics and questions will be provided throughout the trimester. Students are also encouraged to seek advice from the subject coordinator, learning development and UOW librarians. For example, “disclosures” for Indigenous/Aboriginal Issues could relate to mining negotiations with traditional landowners, workforce participation, use of images.

 Prepare a background section by accessing information relating to your topic. This could be reports, scholarly journal articles, professional magazines, industry or government reports, NGO reports.

•   Provide a description of the data you have chosen and why.
•  Present findings in written, graphical or tabular form.
•  Discuss the findings in relation to the research question.  
•  Provide a conclusion and list of references used. 

 
Topic A – Indigenous/Aboriginal Issues  Access the CSR (Sustainability) Reports or Annual Reports of two (2) companies and analyse and compare the disclosures related to Indigenous/Aboriginal Issues for one year (choose a year from the period 2015-2019. Topic B – Modern Slavery Access the corporate reports (e.g. CSR (Sustainability), Annual Report, media releases) for two (2) companies and analyse and compare the disclosures related to modern slavery for one year (choose a year from the period 2015-2019. Topic C – Financial Reporting Access the Annual Reports and other corporate releases (e.g. letter to shareholders, announcements) of two (2) ASX or foreign listed companies that use IFRS and evaluate the effects of the changes to accounting treatment of revenue recognition or leases for one year (choose a year from the period 2015-2019. Topic D– Wild Card Topic  See the subject coordinator for approval and guidance on a topic of interest.
