Objective: The objective of this assignment is to get acquainted with the ns-2 network simulator and mobile wireless network environment. The assignment focuses on performance analysis of TCP protocol over wireless links. Problem Statement: a) Simulate a network consisting of 10 mobile nodes (i.e., n1, n2, n3, n4, n5, n6, n7, n8, n9 and n10) distributed over the area of 1000x1000 and one static node (i.e., n0). Mobile nodes mobility pattern is random. Start 5 different TCP flows, in each flow one node is fixed, i.e., n0 and other node can be a unique node from 10 mobile nodes. Use TCPReno as the sending TCP agent and FTP traffic source. Use AODV routing protocol and IEEE 802.11 MAC protocol for the simulation. Create the trace file of the simulation and plot the graphs for TCP window size (i.e., time vs. congestion _window) and calculate bandwidth for each TCP flow.
(Note: Use multiple simulations runs for gathering the results.) Take appropriate assumptions for simulation duration, speed of the mobile node, location of the static node, packet size link bandwidth, etc. and provide all details in the submission. b) Repeat the simulation conducted in (a) by changing the routing protocol to DSR. c) Write your key observations (not more than 500 words), in a separate file based on the simulation study conducted by you. Deliverables 1. TCL script files for (a) and (b). 2. Plots for bandwidth and TCP window size. 3. Observation file.
