Develop the detailing and the design of the core that services all levels including the plant room that you have allowed for in Assignment 1b. Note that the functions of the core change as one moves up the building. The primary aim of this assignment is to familiarise students with the design, services, insulationand finishing of core elements, in particular lifts, lift cores and lift lobbies, male, female and disabled toilets, fire stairs, and plumbing and other ducts or vertical risers as listed below.

Ground, First and Second Floor: 

•  Adjust the central core location as necessary in consultation with tutor
•  Adjust the central core size if required – the central core does not have to use all 6 car parking spaces
•  Provide 2 lifts and 1 fire stair in the central core according to the requirements below.
•  Provide 2 additional stairs, 1 at each short side of the floor plate. Three stairs total
•  Adjust the stairwell size if required – it does not have to use the full 2 car parking spaces
•  Lifts and fire stairs in the car parking levels do not need to be finished
•  Provide for service risers through the car parking levels that connect the office levels and the ground
•  Car parking levels are naturally ventilated, do not provide mechanical services to these levels

Third, Fourth and Fifth Floors:

•  Adjust the core location as necessary in consultation with tutor
•  The central core must be located in the centre of the office, and must not be located on the perimeter of the building
•  Provide 2 lifts and 1 fire stair in the central core according to the requirements below.
•  Provide male, female and disabled toilets according to the requirements below
•  Provide services risers as per the requirements below
•  Except for stair interiors, all surfaces visible to the building’s users in the office levels are to be finished with applied finishes, either battened-off the substrate or with its own steel stud structure. This includes the floor, walls and ceilin
