Purpose
The purpose of this assessment is to enable you to critically analyse issues through scholarly research, generate informed approaches and apply principles and practices to evaluate and propose contextually informed development interventions.

Instructions
Your task is to prepare a comprehensive pitch or a proposal, drawing on theory covered in this unit’s work, to an organisation (broadly defined) for a gender-focused intervention. Drawing on any issue or approach from the course prepare a report that recommends one of the following:
• project
• policy
• program
• campaign
• advocacy strategy
• research project
You will need to make your case so that the target of your pitch is convinced that this is the way to proceed.

Your paper will therefore include the following:
1. An introduction which identifies the context or organisation to which the pitch will be delivered
The possibilities are endless and might include:
• local government
• NGO (large or small, but make it particular – for example, Red Cross),
• national government (you will need to specify nation),
• multilateral institution such as UN (again make this specific UNSC, UN Women, UNDP....)

2. Make a case for choosing this organisation (to them)
Part of your pitch will need to create a compelling rationale for the organisation (which may include recourse to the theories discussed in this course) about why they are the ones that should adopt this proposal. These might include:
• its mission or espoused responsibilities,
• gaps or problems with existing approaches (by this organisation or in the field)
• its capacity to effect change
• its authority, experience or expertise in the area of your focus
• there might be many reasons or only one, for choosing this organisation – your task is to make a case about why, and to convince them.

3. Outline your proposal/pitch in detail – what are you proposing?
Detail what you are proposing:
• this will include a description of your proposal
• also include a profile of the issue, supporting data, previous approaches to dealing with it, what has worked, what hasn’t, why it’s needed now.
• you will also need to give some background to the issue, why it’s relevant now – this should include recourse to the theories discussed in this course
• what it is about your approach that is necessary and compelling, on what is your case based on – theory, policies, effective approaches etc.
• include something about how this will be evaluated or how the organisation will be able to assess its success.
