Focusing on (up to three) of the key topics that have been covered in the module, write a critical literature review regarding the relevance and applicability of contemporary management theories in dealing with the issues arising from the development and deployment of a successful strategy.
The review should conclude with a reflective statement, in light of your wider reading of academic literature, about the opportunities and challenges that management teams face due to increasing levels of complexity in international markets.
Guidelines
The word limit for this submission is 2,000 words (+/- 10%)
Write the report in Word (Times New Roman font,12pt) as this will provide you with the word count functionality, save as a .doc or .docx file.
You may also include photos, tables or diagrams in the main body of the work as you see fit. Text in tables and diagrams will not count towards the word limit.
Submit your report before 12:00 noon (midday) UK time on Monday 28 June 2021.
Grading
This assignment will be assessed on a 100-point scale based on the attached rubric. This assignment represents the main assessment for the module and represents 70% of your overall mark.

1. Decide on 1-3 Advanced strategy topics to research (see my previous post on what we mean by topics, but you can define these broadly or narrowly as you wish)

ANSWER: Topics generally relate to the units or chapters of books, eg, the formation of strategy (emergent vs planned),
development of organisation purpose,
execution of strategy (systems, culture, structures),
strategic controls within an organisation,
strategy as a human endeavour (units 4 and 5), etc.
The models then work within these topics to enable and facilitate critical analyses of those topics, such as PESTLE, Simons' strategic control systems, strategic drift, etc.

2. Read some articles on these topics (starting with the Advanced strategy reading list and looking for more via the UoB e-library)
3. Discuss the findings from the articles in relation to the topic and critique what you've read, bringing in some business broader knowledge / reading as appropriate. Emphasis here on discuss / critique, not describe / cut and paste / reiterate / summarise. Assume that we know the article and therefore don't need you to summarise it before discussing it.
4. Conclude as a reflective statement on what you have learnt - your concluding thoughts on these articles in light of your broader business knowledge. This is designed to illustrate to the reader that the exercise you have undertaken was worthwhile doing and that your critique added value to what was already 'out there' in order to advance the thinking of your chosen topic(s).
