You are not required to identity and analyse the personal circumstances of individuals, however you do need to demonstrate an understanding of how relevant personal circumstances of an individual is incorporated into a psychosocial approach to practice. For example – Consider the different personal experience for an LGBTQI person who has a supportive family with a person whose family who does not accept the individual’s sexual/gender identity – as part of an overall assessment which incorporates the health differentials, structural issues you have already identified using an intersectional lens. OR The impact of intergenerational trauma experiences on indigenous communities as a community and as individuals as part of an overall assessment which incorporates the health differentials you have already identified.Aims of this Assessment:
- To develop a greater understanding of a psychosocial approach to practice;
- To enhance the student’s knowledge of theory and practice issues relevant to the diverse communities;
- To explore practices that influence health and wellbeing and their impact on equity and access issues;
- To develop professional analysis and literacy skills and critical evaluation of material and commentary;
- To develop research skills in the location and retrieval of relevant documentation.

- Criteria 3: Identification of the challenges involved in addressing health inequities within this community- also using an intersectional lens.
- Criteria 4: Evidence of good research skills with a variety of current source material, documentation and opinion on the topic, appropriately referenced and cited.
- Criteria 5: Be presented in a clear and logical manner in essay style (introduction and conclusion, clear argument with flowing ideas and evidence presented for all contentions).
