To date the company has made 4 equal semi-annual deposit into the fund. The rand has recently declined against the Euro, and to acquire the plant and machinery, Allied Limited requires accumulating a total of R1 million in 2 years’ time. However, Allied Limited can from now earn 10% per annum, interest compounded semi-annually. 

(a) Calculate the amount of the payment the company would have been making initially (6) 

(b) Calculate the amount accumulated after 2 years (6) 

(c) Calculate how much the company have accumulated to after a further 2 years at the rate of 10% per annum. (5) 

(d) Calculate the difference between the old savings and the new savings target of R1million. (3) 

(e) Calculate the payment required in the final 2 years (5)
