You have been invited as a consultant by Alpha Pharmaceuticals Limited (APL) to analyze their organization’s current strategic position. Management are also seeking a thorough investigation of the issues that impact the organization and how they might be solved. 
Alpha Pharmaceuticals is a large organization with 10 different divisions. Major of these are R & D, Manufacturing, Marketing, Sales, Administration, Human Resource, Procurement, etc. Recently they have found that due to quick-spreading (becoming bigger and bigger) in lots of area information mismatches and information loss have been occurring and top-level management are not getting the required information in time, with right content and in correct formats. Recent reports showed that APL has introduced the Omeprazole Injection late in the market - Omeprazole Injection has introduced already by Incepta & Popular before Alpha. APL has lost the opportunity to be the first introducer & can't enjoy the benefits of it. Alpha needs to consider the loss of late introduction & work on the market considering this disadvantage. Low investments in innovative R&D continue to be a major weakness of APL. APL's lack the ability to compete with MNCs for New Drug Discovery, Research and commercialization of molecules on a worldwide basis due to lack of resources. They have huge dealing with external business clients and individual buyers and Government Ministry of Health. 
Rapidly increasing costs of skilled manpower such as scientists/ regulatory compliance personnel/pharmaceutical lawyers/ international business development personnel are pushing up the cost of innovation. Sales and marketing knowledge is inadequate due to a lack of understanding of international Pharmaceutical marketing/pricing practices and market environment in various countries.
