This is congruent with popular American views on capitalism and the importance that is placed on having a free market economy.

Revenue streams primarily consist of sponsorships, media coverage, partnerships, concessions and ticket sales. According to a study conducted by Oxford Economics in 2014, the NFL supports over 100,000 jobs in the United States, including both direct and indirect employment. Lastly, American football is a highly strategic and competitive sport, and many business leaders have drawn parallels between the strategies used on the field and in the corporate world.

Last but not least, the sport has a significant positive impact on the economy with the NFL being a major employer and economic driver in the United States, an organization whose doing their best to make American football a truly ‘global’ sport. Whether the NFL will succeed in this pursuit remains to be seen.
