RATIONALE OF THE STUDY

Additive Manufacturing or Rapid Prototyping also called 3D printing technology is emerging as a disruptive technology with potential applications in various fields. This Research paper focuses on the scope and effectiveness of this technology in the Construction and Healthcare areas of India. In both sectors, 3D printing has immense possibilities to create cost-effective, energy-efficient, time-efficient, customized, and sustainable solutions.

Despite the potential benefits, there is limited research on this topic. Therefore, this research paper will add to the existing studies by exploring the potential benefits, challenges, and drawbacks of 3D printing technology in these two sectors. Additionally, the research paper aims to highlight the contemporary state of additive manufacturing technology in India. By doing so, this study will provide valuable insights to policymakers, practitioners, and academics about the opportunities and feasibility of adopting this technology in the Construction and Healthcare sector in India. The findings of this study can indicate policies and strategies to be formulated that can promote the usage of this technology in India's healthcare and construction sectors. Overall, this research is relevant to both academics and practitioners in the field of healthcare, construction, and technology innovation.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY

This study mainly examines the effectiveness and scope of 3D printing technology in India's healthcare and construction sectors. Within these sectors, the paper aims to focus on building construction and dentistry respectively.

In the building construction segment, employing additive manufacturing technology would bring in the benefits of productivity improvement, lower material cost, reduced labor costs and improve worksite safety by reducing risks during construction work. In the dentistry segment, using 3D printing technology would result in time-saving, cost-saving, and delivering treatments with higher precision/accuracy.

The study aims to identify the possible areas of application, potential advantages, and hindrances of using this technology specifically in building construction and dentistry.

The study will employ qualitative research methods by analyzing secondary data from relevant review articles, academic journals, industry reports, government publications, and case studies of organizations that have implemented 3D printing technology in dentistry and building construction.

LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

This empirical study has certain limitations. First, within the healthcare and construction sectors of India, this study will be limited to the dentistry and building construction segments, so it may not reflect the broader applications of additive manufacturing technology in other industries/segments. Second, the study will focus on the Indian market, and the results may not be conclusive for other countries or regions. Third, the study will be constrained by the availability and quality of secondary data, which may affect the validity and credibility of the findings. Finally, the paper will not be competent to predict the perpetual impact of this technology on the dentistry and building construction sectors, as it is a rapidly evolving field with constantly changing technologies and applications.
