Description of Task
1. In this assessment you are required to develop a teacher resource that includes (but is not limited to):
o An Overview Of The AC Science Curriculum;
o Overviews of key concepts relating to one of biological, chemical, physical or Earth and Space sciences in the F-6 Australian Curriculum for Science (advice – break this down into three or four year-group blocks, e.g. K-2, 3-4, 5-6);
o Details of at least three teaching and learning resources relating to the area you have chosen, with an evaluation of each and a justification of why those resources were selected; and
o An assessment rubric to evaluate student learning that includes components of the end of year achievement standards relating to each of the three strands of the science curriculum, for one year group.

• The format of the resource may vary but it should not exceed the equivalent of 10 pages,

Section 1: Overview of the Australian Curriculum – Science
• Discuss the nature, process and values of the Australian Curriculum: Science
• Describe the strands and sub-strands of the AC-Science and how they interrelate
• Discuss cross-curricular links with Science, including the general capabilities and cross-curricular priorities
Section 2: Overview of selected sub-strand of the Science Understanding strand
• State your chosen substrand - biological, chemical, physical or Earth and Space sciences.
Option A: Will your three selected Resources relate to ONE year level and ONE content descriptor from Science Understanding (eg. Gr.4 Biology)
Option B: Will your three selected Resources be used to teach ONE Science Understanding sub-strand concept across several year levels (eg.Forces and Motion F-2 + 3-4 + 5-6)?

• Discuss how the key concepts in your selected Science Understandingsub-strand are sequentially developed over Years F-6 (Primary students) or Years 5-8 (secondary students). You may wish to refer to the achievement standard and the broad goals of the AC Science Curriculum in relation to your selected sub-strand.
• Discuss the way the Science as a Human Endeavour strand is structured over the Primary years F-6 (F-2 + 3/4 + 5/6 for Primary pre-service teachers) or Years 5-8 (5/6 + 7/8 for secondary pre-service teachers) and how it relates to your chosen sub-strand (or how this strand relates to the specific content descriptor if you’re focusing on one year level).
• Discuss the way the Science Inquiry Skills strand is structured over Years F-6 (F-2 + 3/4 + 5/6 Primary students) or Years 5-8 (5/6 + 7/8 for secondary students) and how it relates to your chosen sub-strand (or how this strand relates to the specific content descriptor if you’re focusing on one year level).
