1. The following data gives the age and blood pressure (BP) of 10 sports persons.

i. Find regression equation of Y on X and X on Y (Use the method of deviation from arithmetic mean)

ii. Find the correlation coefficient (r) using the regression coefficients.

iii. Estimate the blood pressure of a sports person whose age is 45.

2. (a) One fifth percent of the blades produced by a blade manufacturing company turn out to be defective. The blades are supplied in packets of 10. Use Poisson distribution to calculate the approximate number of packets containing (a) No defective (b) one defective and (c) two defective.

(b) A box contains 100 transistors, 20 of which are defective. 10 are selected for inspection. Indicate what is the probability that (a) All the 10 are defective (b) Atleast one is defective (c) At the most 3 are defective

3. Below are given the figures of production (in thousand quintals) of a sugar factory.
 

(i) Fit a straight line by the 'least squares' method and tabulate the trend values. (ii) Eliminate the trend. (iii) What is monthly increase in the production of sugar?

4. Based on information on 1000 randomly selected fields, about the tendency status of the cultivation of these field and use of fertilizers, collected in Agro economic survey, the following classification was noted.

Would you conclude that owner cultivators are more inclined towards the use of fertilizers at 5% level. Use Chi-square.
