Students will work to develop a social media marketing strategy for an actual business. You can select a preferred business to work with or select one of the following: October's Very Own, Roots, Tim Hortons, Aritizia, Saje or Glamour Pets. Students will analyze the company's current social media marketing footprint and strategy (i.e. content, social media channels, engagement and KPIs) in context of the competition, and propose methods/platforms and content to optimize the strategy. This is the project where students will apply the skills covered throughout the social media learning outcomes. Students will need to identify the business objectives, assess their current social media marketing strategy, and offer actionable recommendations for the business. This is the opportunity for students to work on real-world projects with actual companies. With this project, students have the chance to practice the core job skills top employers demand when hiring digital marketing professionals. Project Based on your analysis of the company's current social media footprint, students will develop a social media strategy. Students will complete the following in this project, including but not limited to: 
o Analysis of current business state (SWOT analysis including competitive research)

o Conduct an audit of their current social media presence across all social channels

o Conduct an assessment of the effectiveness and engagement of current channel(s)

o Establish 2 SMART goals for their social media success

o Develop strategies for improving social media performance by recommending campaigns, tools, methods of engagement, platforms, content, etc.

o Create 3 social media post examples and 2 social media ad examples with defined audience targeting. 
Deliverables 1. A PowerPoint presentation with recorded oral narration (not to exceed 15 minutes) to include:

o Executive Summary o Current analysis of social media footprint including competitive assessment

o Identification of 2 SMART goals

o 5 Recommendations with examples of social media posts, social media ads (with audience targeting) and accompanying social media posts and ads to illustrate the recommendations

o Resources and budget estimates to execute the recommendations 
2. A content calendar and content plan across multiple selected social media platforms based on the recommendations. The content calendar should cover a one (1) month overview AND one (1) week with daily topics/themes. The content plan is limited to a maximum of 500 words. This should include a visual representation of a content calendar. 
The PowerPoint presentation is limited to a maximum of 25 slides (approximate) with another 15 slides available in the appendix as supporting documents. The oral narration not to exceed 15 minutes.
