Highlights
Data and variable construction
Describe data sources
Describe the variables used in this paper, the credible sources of variables (Specify the name of database or the website).
Variable manipulations
Provide details on how you manipulate your variables. For example, how you clean your data, how you make transformations, how you merge different variables, and etc.
Data visualization
Often we want to visualize the time series, the distribution, or the relationship between two variables. In order to add a graph using Markdown, you export the graph in PNG format. You can explain the graph in the “brackets” and define the file path in parentheses
Econometric specification
In this section, you specify your models. Depending on your research objective, the style could be a bit different.
For example, if your study is about exploring the relationship between Y and X, and you plan to use regression-based model, you can directly specify your econometric model as follows:
$$Y_i = \beta_0 + \beta_1 X_i + \epsilon_i$$
If, however, your study is about fitting a time series using ARIMA/ARCH model, then you do not need to specify your model in advance in this section, you can skip this section and jump to the Results section (In the Results section you follow the Box-Je nkins methodology).
