The purpose of this assignment is to assess your suitability as a business application advisor. It is not a test of substantive knowledge or your ability to do research. 

Assignment: Your assignment will be assessed on the following: 

1. Cross-functional flowchart: Your ability to analyze and summarize a sequence of activities into a business process map. 
2. Change Management (5-page maximum): Your ability to plan and communicate change to leadership, staff and stakeholders. 

Your written assignment will also be assessed for grammar, style, presentation, readability and logical organization of your thoughts. The format of the response is left to your best judgement. Assignment 1: Cross Functional Flowchart 

Part 1. Review the scenario below to create a cross-functional flowchart (“swim lane diagram”) showing the actors, their functions in the process and where the decisions were made. 

Scenario: The Ministry of Pets certifies Pet Groomers. They have provided requirements to change the certification process where pet groomers apply via a paper form to an online application. The online application will integrate with the Ministry of Pets Certification system. The requirements for the future-state registration process are: 

• Client (pet groomer): registers for the online portal with a BC Services card; completes application for certification including recording their past work experience and training, and then submits the application to the certification system 
• Program Admin: Checks for application completeness (Passed or Failed) 
• System: If complete, integrates with training institution database and checks for transcripts (Passed or Failed); sends notifications of decisions (approval, denial, missing information); and issues certificate for review 
• Pet Registrar: reviews application details (Passed or Failed), Criminal Records Check (Passed or Failed); make decision for the application in system (Approves or Denies) 
• The Client receives application decision in the portal 

Part 2: Document what further questions you have for the Ministry of Pets. Also document what additional business process improvements you would recommend to Ministry of Pets to further improve this process. (Maximum 1 page) 

Assignment 2: Change Management 

Scenario: Your Manager has asked you to develop a change management plan for the scenario in Assignment 1. Prepare a PowerPoint presentation (maximum 5 pages, not including title or transition pages) with speaking notes which describes the following: 

• Why the change is occurring 
• When the change will occur 
• Scope of the change 
• Expected benefits of the change 
• Who will be impacted and what communication will occur both internal to the organization and external 
• What stage of the project you are in and what the next steps will be 

This presentation is a summary of your change management plan. It will be delivered by your Manager to Senior Leadership to brief them on the upcoming shift to online submission of applications.
