Highlights
1. Aassignment Question (Poverty & Inequality)
Using the South African Context, discuss the relationship between poverty and inequality. How has this relationship changed in Post-Apartheid South Africa?
Guideline (Important things to keep in mind while writing an essay)
1. Define the key concepts and unpack the relationship between inequality and poverty.
2. Application of South African Context (Historical).
3. Post-Apartheid Context (Interchange between global and local context i.e. external factors)
2. Assignment Question (Theories of Development)
In the theories of development, some global scholars believed that economic growth in the advanced industrialised countries did not necessarily lead to growth in the Less Develop countries (LDC) or poorer countries, thereby attributed explanations to some external influences--political, economic, and cultural--on national development policies. In the light of the aforementioned:
1. Identify the above type of development theory.
2. Explain in detail what the theory is all about
3. Why do you think Less Developed Countries (LDC) are underdeveloped?
4. Identify and explain three advantages and criticisms of the theory
5. What do you think are the solutions to the underdevelopment of the LDC?
