In discussion 4.1 you were asked to describe to the others in your group an example, relevant to diabetes, that has more than one way of doing something (i.e., different interventions that could be used) with different levels of effectiveness. In discussion 5.1 you described to the others in your group what cost and outcome information you might need to do an economic evaluation of that intervention.

Imagine that you are ready to conduct an economic evaluation of your chosen intervention and respond to the assignment questions below. 
 

ASSIGNMENT QUESTIONS 
Your work is needed to inform policy and practice in your setting. Give an overview of the key elements for an economic evaluation of this intervention. 
Part A (20%) Provide a clear introduction that describes the general need for economic evaluation as well as the need for this specific economic evaluation of your chosen diabetes related intervention. The introduction should also clearly state the objective to be addressed by the proposed economic evaluation. 
Part B (35%) Introduce the methods you have chosen for your economic evaluation. Considering the four types of evaluation that you have learnt about, explain what type of economic evaluation will be used and why. Ensure that you consider what perspective will be used and why. 
Part C (35%) Discuss the data that would be required for an economic evaluation, including how you would collect it for the study and what challenges you perceive you would encounter with the data collection/economic evaluation. 
Presentation (10%) Marks will be given for presentation, including the structure, use of references, style and clarity of message. The assignment should be well structured and include tables and figures where appropriate. You may use a maximum of 3 tables or figures (a combination of these is allowed).
