Task

Submit an analysis and evaluation of the argument of the article excerpted below. Use the techniques of argument analysis and argument mapping introduced in week 2, and the concepts of argument evaluation introduced in week 3. Make sure you watch the videos of week 4 for a deeper look in argument analysis and evaluation, including an example very much like this assignment. In your evaluation, you should consider whether all the steps in the argument are valid and/or strong, and whether the premises are true (or at least plausible). You also need to introduce at least one objection to the argument you are evaluating. You need to explain which part of the argument the objection targets, and you also need to discuss how someone might attempt to respond to it.

Submission Instructions
Submit, in a single file, an argument map showing the structure of the argument, and up to about 1500 words of text explaining and evaluating the argument. The word count does not include words on the map itself.
The 1500 words is an estimated maximum. You do not have to reach exactly this word count, nor will you be penalised for going over it by a small amount.
The evaluation should be written in clear and correct English, but it need not be a formal essay. Use the model answers supplied in Week 4 as examples.
You can use any piece of software you want for drawing your map. Alternatively, you can draw it on a piece of paper and take a picture. Make sure the map is legible in the file you upload.
You should not use any external sources for this assessment. This is not an assessment in ethics, it is an assessment in argument analysis. You are expected to use concepts introduced in the lectures, and you do not need to cite those. When citing the article for analysis, simply give the page number.
