Atlantis Minerals Limited (AM) is a copper, gold, nickel and diamond mining company based in Western Australia. Listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), AM currently has a growth strategy focused on creating value for all stakeholders. AM owns and operates numerous mines in Western Australia and the Northern Territory of Australia. It also has some joint ventures with other mining entities with these being in Western Australia.Since listing on the ASX in 1997, AM has steadily grown due to the successful exploitation of new mineral deposits and with the increased global demand for its resources. However, over the last five years new opportunities have become less frequent due to fewer mineral licences being available and increased competition from other Australian and global mining companies. As a consequence of these events, AM’s revenue and profitability have remained stagnant, with FY20 being the first year that both have declined and the company’s share price has under-performed compared to other listed mining companies. This has led to some discontent amongst some of AM’s major shareholders who have expressed concerns about the performance of AM’s Board and management and have demanded a change in the company’s strategy.
