1. Introduction

There are certain phases of every student’s professional development that cannot be effectively taught in the academic environment. These facets can only be learned through direct, on-the-job experience working as a protégé under professional mentors and experts from the corporate.

2. Background

Capstone Project is an integral part of the academic curriculum of MBA Construction Project Management/ Construction Economics & Quantity Surveying programmes. The capstone project presents a major piece of guided independent research on a topic agreed upon between the student and their supervisor. It typically involves a literature review and an appropriate form of critical analysis of sources of primary and /or secondary data; it may involve field and/or laboratory work.

The capstone project has been divided in two parts namely Capstone 1 and Capstone II. Capstone II is part of 4th Semester of MBA program, and its objective is to complete the research work being carried out from the previous semester. The purpose is to enable the student to develop deeper knowledge, understanding, capabilities and attitudes in the context of the Programme of study. A part thesis should be written at the end of the semester and offers the opportunity to delve more deeply into and synthesize knowledge acquired in previous studies.

3. Course Objectives

The course objective is to provide the students an opportunity to research about the current Construction Project Management Construction Economics and Quantity Surveying practices/processes on an individual basis by application of the prior knowledge acquired from the study of courses in earlier semesters. The course aims at encouraging the students to conduct data collection, analysis and summarize the findings and prepare detailed project report as per requisites and demonstrate the project work learnings through a final presentation & Viva Voce.
