3. Airports need to consider several categories of commuters who have a need to travel to and from airport:

• Passengers

• Greeters and well wishes

• Visitors

• Employees

• Suppliers

4. These commuters will use various modes of transport to travel to and from the airport.  Based on the modal split and the traffic volume, airports will need to provide landside access infrastructure that supports various access modes and the supporting parking infrastructure. 

5. Each student is to choose an international airport (other than Changi Airport) from the given list of airports with at least 10 million passenger traffic taken from the Skytrax list of the World’s Top 100 Airport in 2018 and perform the following tasks:

• Identify the various landside transport modes in the chosen airport and explain how they support the needs of the 5 categories of commuters as listed in Paragraph 3.  

• Compare and contrast the findings of your chosen airport with Changi Airport. (Comparison between Changi Airport Singapore and Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS)

• Analyse the strength and weakness of the landside transport infrastructure at Changi Airport and recommend at least 3 improvements, based on your research and observations as a commuter.
