TASK DESCRIPTION - Assignment 1 (50%)
Assessment 1 – Advertising campaign (500 words maximum)
50% weighting
After the Covid pandemic, life is slowly going back to normal. However, new cases are still occurring and as a result the UK government wants to encourage everyone to get vaccinated as quickly as possible.
However not everyone is keen to be vaccinated and there are a range of reasons that are preventing people from arranging their appointment. The government is designing a 2-page leaflet as part of a pro-vaccination campaign to distribute around communities. This leaflet needs to outline the barriers - reasons that are preventing people taking the vaccine, the strategies – how they hope to persuade people to take it and show cultural awareness – so that all communities feel represented.
The government has identified the following reasons that people do not want to take the vaccine:
Physical barriers – People are unsure how to book a vaccine and the think test centres are very far away and inconvenient to get to.
Emotional barriers – People are scared and do not trust in the vaccine because it is new and relatively untested and, they are worried they will get sick. They are worried to go to the vaccine centre because they want to avoid contact with other people.
Information barriers – Not much is known about the effects of the vaccine, people do not know which vaccine to take. There is a lot of negative publicity in the media.
Attitudinal barriers – Some people are resistant to change and feel it is riskier to take the vaccine as they do not think they have a high chance of getting Covid.
Cultural barriers – A lot of people living in the UK are not confident in their English ability but most information about the vaccine is only available in English and most nurses giving the vaccine only speak English. Some cultures are more anxious about the vaccine than others.
