Statistics Assessment Answer

TASK: Project: The purpose of this project is to use the statistical/analytical tools taught in BAC115 to analyse the performance of students who completed a Quantitative subject between 2011 and 2017. The Subject Coordinator of a Quantitative subject at MMP is concerned about student performances in the last seven years, especially the amount of time students devote to studying this subject. The Subject Coordinator believes that the engagement in part time work have also meant students have less time to devote to their study. Using the data provided, provide an analytical report to determine if the Subject Coordinator's concerns are founded. Retrieve the EXCEL data file: Student Performances Project Sem 1 2019 from the Assignment Data Folder on Moodle. This file contains a worksheet showing various information about students enrolled in particular courses. The Source of the information is provided in this file. Open up the worksheet and follow the guidelines given to assist you in the analysis of the data. Once you have done this, collate the information and write a comprehensive report of the information you have collected. In your report, you must demonstrate the skills you have learned in this course, for example, the appropriate ways of presenting data; the type of Assignment Brief statistical analyses you have undertaken and report on the findings, and state any conclusions or recommendations you may have. The attached rubrics will give you a guide as to how marks will be allocated. The instructions from the EXCEL sheet are reproduced here for your convenience Instructions for your project: Using the appropriate sampling method, obtain two samples of size, n = 25 students. Introduction (10% of marks) - A brief introduction to what this project is about and a general description of how you have derived the samples. (Your samples will need to be included in the Appendix of your project.) Data Analysis (40 % of marks). The following is a guideline to some of the information you may like to collate to write your report. Provide appropriate graphical representations of your findings. These summary findings will form part of the written report. In the sample, what are the proportion of students enrolled in the two majors? What proportion of these students are male/female? Are they more male students enrolled in Business or Accounting? Determine the distribution of grades according to gender. Determine the distribution of grades according to major. What is the average mark obtained for this subject? Overall, do a female student perform better than a male student? Are the marks obtained by female students more variable than those of the male students? On average, do students who major in Accounting do better or worse than students enrolled in Business? What is the average number of hours worked per week by students in your sample? What is the average number of hours devoted to studying the subject? Do female students spend more hours studying then working? How does this compare to the male counterparts? Inferential Statistics (20%) Provide a 95% interval estimation for the average mark obtained by all students and interpret your answer. Provide a 95% interval estimation for the average mark obtained by gender and intrepret your answer From past experience, the Subject Coordinator believes that if a student devotes on average, at least 1.9 hours per week on the subject, the student is likely to pass the subject. Using the information you have collected, is there evidence to support the claim. Conduct your test at the 5% level and interpret your answer. The Subject Coordinator is concerned that the amount of time students devote to part time work is deducted from the amount of time devoted to study. Provide a 95% interval estimation for the average number of hours worked by all students. Suppose the true average is 5.125 hours, how accurate is your sample result? What can you say about the accuracy of your methodology? From past experience, the Subject Coordinator believes that if a student works less than 5 hours per week, the student is likely to pass the subject. Using the information you have collected, is there evidence to support the claim. Conduct your test at the 5% level and interpret your answer. Analysis of relationships (15%) Is there a relationship between the number of hours spent studying per week and the marks obtained for the subject? Estimate a model to analyse this relationship and interpret your model. Is there a relationship between the number of hours spent working per week and the marks obtained for the subject? Estimate a model to analyse this relationship and interpret your model. Is there a relationship between the number of hours spent working per week and the number of hours spent studying? Estimate a model to analyse this relationship and interpret your model.  Provide a short summary of the MAIN results from your overall analysis. Do you think the data provided here give a good perspective of student's performances? If not, what suggestions would you recommend? Individual Reflective Journal (5%) – In less than 600 words, provide evidence of your individual contribution to the project.
