Task 1: Selection and online posting of an original media article, and critical analysis of media article 20 marks
 

1. Research and select ONE media article which has been published after 4 June 2020. The article must relate to an Australian company governed by the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth), and to aspects of corporations law covered in the subject during the semester.
 

2. Select an article which has been published for a media paper or a journal. The main article chosen for Task 1 cannot be a media release or a media announcement by a company. You may, however, find other articles you wish to use as subsidiary or secondary articles to your main article. These articles may be mainstream media articles, media releases or media announcements.

3. Start one online discussion thread in Brightspace as follows:
“Assessments” section –> Assignment Forum -> Assignment Forum – Semester 2, 2020” (click on “Start a New Thread”).
Insert the title of your thread in the “Enter a subject” panel in the following format:
• your company’s name
• the event/matter
• your name and student I.D.
Example: QANTAS – General Meeting – Rebecca Dunne R123456.
The title to your thread must relate to a topic covered in the subject during the semester

4. Post the URL link to your media article in the content panel in your Assignment Forum discussion thread. The link to your article must be able to be used by other members of the class and therefore should not be a link to a site that is a “subscriber only” site or site with limited public access. Some media outlets make articles available for a brief period before making articles accessible only to subscribers. If you are concerned about access to your article, you can either, copy and paste the content of the article into your thread, or, copy the content of the article into a Word document and attach the Word document to your thread.

Task 2: Online management and follow-up in your online discussion thread: 6 marks
1. Throughout the semester, you should encourage and manage any discussions in your thread by other students, and maintain your discussion thread in a manner that accords with appropriate business practice.
 

2. Marks will be awarded for prompt/timely, constructive and substantive responses to any points made, or for any relevant supplementary articles or links posted by other students in your online discussion thread. Responses must be original and not plagiarised or copied from any source, and must be correctly referenced according to the APA 6 Referencing Guide, where necessary and appropriate.
