The company left the Canadian after a colossal failure in business management.

Team Project - 30% of final grade (10% individual REPORT, 10% team REPORT ), 10% peer review of another team's submission 

A. Important - "preparation" - to do well proceed systematically - complete each step in succession before moving to next step!

1.carfully  review "executive roles" appended in eLearn and pay careful attention to project timeline to be outlined by instructor - determine which functional role could be of interest to you..

2. Read article in eLearn entitled "The Last Days of Target" by Joe Castaldo and do an on-line search for additional information as necessary  

B. Have a virtual meeting with your current 5 team members  -   as a team assign each member a functional role below: (for purposes of this project you must pretend that you are the actual functional departmental leader during the planning and execution of Target's entry into the Canadian market)

Phase 1 - "Individual" stage: (10 points) -   

     a. From the perspective of your management responsibility as defined by your functional role, research the Target Canada's business performance, strategy and policy direction (web, newspapers, "stockwatch.com" or other reports etc.) and how "your functional" area of responsibility, contributed to Target's failure in Canada. Consider the external environment as well as the company's resources and competitive strengths. I understand and am well aware this will be difficult for students with little business experience - be patient and move through the steps with confidence! Remember to help each other and be generous!

Write an individual report to your CEO and management team explaining your department’s contribution to the company's failure. To the extent you can consider specific OB theories in textbook and cite references from text or other sources in reports to explain your department problems.. Try to discuss only your department. Avoid a general overview of the failure! Show me that you understand your department's role!

Report is not to exceed 5 pages.  

Your report is due February 22nd , via email to me, for grading out of 10 marks. Share a copy with your team mates, carefully read their reports and move to Phase 2.
