1. Mendel discovered that yellow peas are dominant over green peas. Using G and g to represent the dominant and recessive alleles,  respectively, cross a homozygous yellow pea with a green pea and then select any two of their offspring and cross them. What are the  phenotypic and genotypic ratios of the F2 generation? 
2. Refer to the online notes for the details of the expression of eye colour in fruit flies. Would it ever be possible to cross two red-eyed fruit  flies and get a white-eyed fly? If so how?  
3. A gray feathered rooster mates with a gray feathered hen. Of their offspring, 16 have gray feathers, but eight have white feathers, and  eight have black feathers. How can this be explained?  
4. Some dog breeds are either black (BB, Bb) or brown (bb). However, the ability to create black or brown pigment (Aa or AA) must also be  present. This means that if the dog possesses the recessive “aa” genotype, it cannot create any pigment and is albino.  
a. What is the phenotypic ratio resulting from a cross between two completely heterozygous dogs (BbAa X BbAa)?  b. What is the phenotypic ratio of the result of a brown dog (bbAa) crossed with a white dog that is heterozygous for black pigment?  c. Is it possible for two black dogs to create white puppies? If so, what would be the genotype of the parents?  d. Can two white dogs have black or brown puppies? Explain.  
e. Can two brown dogs have black puppies? 
5. Multiple alleles govern coat colour in rabbits. The dominant allele, C, produces full colour. Chinchilla (cch), Himalayan (ch) and albino (ca)  colours are all recessive to full colour. The dominance hierarchy is C > cch > ch> ca.
