Basic Statistical Tools in Research and Data Analysis

Assignment Task

Objective

The objective of this assignment is to help students apply statistical concepts and tools to real-world scenarios. Through group discussion and analysis, students will develop a deeper understanding of statistical literacy, ethics, data quality, data sources, measures of location, measures of dispersion, measures of skewness, measurement scales, and data visualization charts and tables.

Instructions

1. Each group will select a real-world scenario (e.g. healthcare, education, business, social sciences) and identify a research question related to that scenario.

2. Each group will conduct a literature review to identify relevant data sources and collect data related to the research question.

3. Each group will then use statistical tools and techniques to analyze the data and draw conclusions related to the research question.

4. Each group will prepare a report summarizing their findings and present their results in class.

Note: The group assignment will be evaluated based on the above marking rubric, and each member of the group will receive the same mark. It is the responsibility of the group members to work collaboratively, contribute equally, and meet the deadline. The group assignment will be assessed for plagiarism using Turnitin, and any case of academic misconduct will be reported to the relevant authorities.
