Baw Baw shire ranges from bushland, farmland to town houses but as any local government area it does have its socio-economic aspects. In this essay I have chosen two determinants and one of them is an environmental factor such as landslides.  Landslides can have such a huge impact on the population’s wellbeing, causing ill health and causing isolation from any social outlet. We don’t always think about this when we hear it from the news but in this essay, I will explain the effects and also show evidence to prove the detrimental effects it does have. The second determinant I will cover is Transport, if there is lacking transport in the local government area this can have the same negative impact as you are taking away the population’s independence, access to essential items and healthcare on a regular bases and it is also unreliable.
First determinant is landslides and the Baw Baw shire informing the public that From Willow Grove Road to the South Face Road interchange threw to Mount Baw Baw Tourist Road still remain closed. Our employees and contractors are repairing 13 major landslips that happened along the route during the June extreme weather event. Repairing the substantial damage to Mount Baw Baw Road is projected to take at least six months, with completion scheduled for December 2021. This is six lengthy months for that poor community to challenge with
