Part B: Behavioural intervention
Part B of the assignment will usually be referred to as your ‘behavioural intervention’ or ‘intervention project’. This part of the assignment is a project that requires you to collect data and you should allow yourself approximately 4-5 weeks to complete it. Many resources to help you complete the project, including a timeline to complete your intervention project and a marking schedule, are provided on the course page. For this part of the assignment you will:

• Conduct an intake interview. During the interview you will identify a real-life behavioural deficit or excess that can be addressed using behaviour modification techniques.
•  Assess the baseline level of the target behaviour by collecting and analysing baseline data.
• Design an intervention using behavioural research, principles and techniques. The design and techniques you apply will depend on the analysis of the baseline data you collect.
• Implement the intervention and assess its effectiveness by collecting and visually analysing data.
•  Write and submit an intervention lab report. The lab report should draw on behavioural analytic research, principles and techniques. An example of how to present your lab report is provided on the course page.

Participant
Your participant should be an adult (over 18 years old). You may have a family member or friend who would be interested in participating. Alternatively, you can be your own participant and modify your own behavior. It is, however, strongly recommended to find someone else to work with as doing so will provide you with more experience working with others in a ‘real-world’ setting.

Target behavior
You do not need to tackle a particularly complicated target behavior in order to demonstrate your knowledge and skill. You could, for example, decide you would like
to help someone decrease the amount of time they spend on social media. The range of possible projects is enormous and your lecturer will be pleased to help you evaluate any ideas you have.
