Highlights
Topic of the Report- Using clickbait in an Academic setting
Imagine you are an expert in cyber behavior and have been hired to advise a subject coordinator who is interested in whether using a clickbait-style topic list will increase class attendance. You are asked to provide a description of clickbait, information on why and how clickbait works, and any recommended actions on using clickbait to increase class attendance or an explanation of why attempting to use clickbait would not be advisable or useful.
To complete this report, you will need to
In this report you will need to include the academic journal articles summarised in part one and two of the annotated bibliography assessment.
How to Write a Report
1) A hook/Issue of concern: Something that draws the reader in, a point, a story, a fact, etc. It helps to talk about what people do, or how they are. This type of hook should be brief and useful (2-4 sentences at most), and try to tie it back in again in your conclusion. The hook of this report is easy to determine- It should relate to clickbait.
2) A general goal: By the end of the hook paragraph/beginning of the second paragraph you should give the reader a general idea of what your paper is about. You haven’t explained much, so you won’t want to be too specific yet, but generally what behaviour you are addressing—and how you are addressing it—should come up early so the reader isn’t left in the dark.
3) What we know: Now you should begin summarising the available literature and the things we already know about the behaviour. This may be the largest section of your report.
4) Does this behaviour work in the way the subject coordinator expects? Based on your research into clickbait, do you think this is any effective strategy a subject coordinator should or even could implement to influence class attendance? This will be a judgment call on your part but your recommendation should align with the evidence you discuss on how/why clickbait works.
5) Is clickbait effective to change behavior: If you conclude it woud be an effective and achievable strategy that could increase attendance, outline it here. This should be based on evidence found in academic sources. If you conclude it won’t be an effective and achievable strategy a subject coordinator could implement, or that it’s not Cyber Behaviour BEHV1026 Report Guide recommended in an academic setting, provide greater justification here for this decision.
