Description

In this assignment, students begin developing a BIM model based on a provided floor plan. You will create an architectural template, set project levels, build exterior and interior walls, add structural elements, and load essential families. Next, insert windows, doors, dimensions, room names, and annotations.

You will also create views, set up sheet sets with the title block, and prepare printable sheets for submission.

Instructions

1. Start the Project

  • Use an architectural template.

  • Create and adjust levels.

    • Leave Level 1 at 0'-0" and modify remaining levels as needed.

2. Build the Structure

  • Build exterior and interior walls, columns, and structural elements.

  • Exterior walls span two levels — set proper wall constraints.

  • Do not stack exterior walls.

3. Add Interior Walls

  • Work on the correct plan level before drawing walls.

  • Choose appropriate wall types:

    • Exterior: “Basic Wall: Exterior – Brick and CMU on Mtl. Stud”

    • Interior: “Basic Wall: Interior – 4 7/8” Partition”

  • Add structural columns and stair styles as needed.

4. Insert Windows and Doors

  • Use appropriate sizes based on the design.

5. Add Dimensions & Annotations

  • Use room labels, dimensions, text notes, and keynote annotations.

  • Model-view annotations should be scaled correctly.

  • Sheet notes belong in sheet views only.

9. Drafting Views, Schedules & Legends

  • Create placeholders for details, legends, lighting layouts, furniture schedules, etc.

Submission Guidelines

  1. Save your Revit file in native format.

  2. Use file naming:

  3. Export views and sheet PDFs.

  4. Combine all PDFs into a single file.

Objectives

Description

This assignment continues the work from Assignment 1. Students will add slabs, roofs, ceilings, stairs, and FF&E components. Structural accuracy and proper family selection are key. Students must update views, annotations, and sheets accordingly.

Instructions

1. Add Ground Floor Slab

  • Include thickened edges for structural accuracy.

2. Add Level 2 Slab

  • Ensure alignment with wall and column layouts.

3. Add the Roof

  • Choose roof type based on building design:

    • Flat

    • Gable

    • Hip

    • Etc.

4. Add Ceilings

  • Select ceiling style and height that suits the design.

5. Add Stairs and Elevators

  • Follow sample drawings for layout.

  • Include landings and handrails.

6. Load Families

  • Use built-in Revit library or online sources:
