Assignment Task

Aim

In this assessment, you will use Bivariate Data Analysis as well as the statistical investigation process, to identify a problem, pose a statistical question, collect or obtain data, analyse data, interpret and communicate results.

Scenario

The world population is now more than 8.1 billion. This number still climbs every day and the claims they show real time world population along with other statistics covering 8 main categories of life

National Geographic created an interesting animation which shows some statistical facts about our world’s population entitled ‘7 Billion’.

The data includes the following variables:

  • Country
  • Continent - Africa, North America, South America, Asia, Europe, Oceania
  • GDP – Gross Domestic Product in US dollars per capita
  • GNI – Gross National Income in international dollars (a hypothetical unit of world currency) in US dollars per capita
  • Life Expectancy at Birth – Age in years for males and females

Task

In this task you will:

  • Clearly identify the variables you will use to answer the given question and discuss links that you find.

  • Analyse the given data, demonstrating your understanding of appropriate Bivariate Analysis techniques and the Statistical Investigation Process.

  • Provide appropriate graphs / tables (handwritten, excel, or ClassPad snapshots) to show your analyses of the data.

  • Use relevant mathematical terminology, processes and calculations to explain and justify your answer.

  • Write your findings in a report, using the guidelines provided.
