Assignment Task: Purpose of Assessment item The purpose of this assessment is for you to engage in social constructivism. This requires you to form yourselves into a group of three. In your group, you will review, interact and reflect on the contents of groups of articles. You will undertake this in two stages. In the first stage, you will be able to discuss and share information within your groups on blackboard – a dedicated discussion board has been created for your group to facilitate your group exchanges. You will also have access to the general discussion board which everyone in the class can access. In the second stage, you will copy materials as you deem appropriate from your group discussion board into a word processing document in which you will finalise your report for submission. You will find on a blackboard that articles have been supplied in your reading list for each module. You will find also that each module relates to at least one key components of the unit. You must pick one article from each of the components The expected deliverable You will find that the items in your reading list relate to the themes below – to succeed in this unit, you are required to identify which module’s reading list fits into the following themes: • Construction economics • Project management • Professional practice • Digital construction • Stakeholder management Your group will produce a joint report – a reflective report, which must contain and/or address the following elements [you are free to include additional elements that you deem useful to your narrative, however you have to do this without compromising the stated requirements below]: • A cover page, showing the IDs of every member of your group (a sample is available on blackboard). • A concise [quasi-executive] summary, not more than 200 words – this must show the problems addressed and the lessons you have learnt from the exercise. • Tables of contents, tables and figures, including precise paginations • Introduction, which introduces the knowledge gap addressed in the trigger readings succinctly, and how they have challenged your thoughts. • Synthesis [Body], which clearly presents your understanding of the achievements (findings/arguments) of the trigger readings and how they were made (credibility of the methodologies used), your understanding of the significance of the findings and how you think such achievements apply to your learning. • Implications, which identifies any new knowledge you have acquired or an argument you can develop against the findings reported in the trigger readings, and how this applies to your 1understanding of construction management as a body of knowledge. Are there new things [lessons] in these that you think you should work on now or in the future? How significant has this experience shaped your learning? We expect you to read other materials independently. You must cite this in your report. Tie your new knowledge in the reflective pack to your independent study • Conclusion, where you will summarize your learning effort in this exercise. You will also indicate the challenges you have picked up from the exercise and how you intend to work on them. Also, whether there are limitation/drawbacks that might prevent you from applying the new inspiration you have acquired from the exercise. In the end, make recommendations to the government on the lessons you have learnt and how your nation can benefit from your new knowledge. • Bibliography, remember to use the Chicago style of referencing here. Submission requirement Your total word count must not exceed 5,000 words, references inclusive. Only one report is required per group. Submit via Turnitin not later than 11:59 pm of 3 rd May. Peer review As this is a group task, each individual in your group has to complete a peer review document. You must submit this individually through the Turnitin link we have created on the Blackboard site. The document asks you to explain your contributions to the success or failure of your group. You will also award marks for every individual in your group, except yourself. This forms a significant part of your mark in this task. Such assessment will allow members of your groups to know how they have performed, and are currently performing, such that they are allowed the time for correction of any performance problems or deficiencies prior to the end of the semester. The information you provide will also be used to determine a part of your final grade (and your peers’) in the unit. 1.
