It is thought that drinking green tea might act as a metabolism booster and lead to a change in muscle metabolism A study was carried out, to determine the effects of green tea consumption on muscle metabolism, involving 18 men who underwent arm exercise tests. 9 of the men were randomly selected to drink green tea shortly before the test and the other 9 men consumed a similar volume of water as a placebo. During the test the men’s RER was measured (RER is the ratio of carbon dioxide produced to oxygen consumed). The results obtained are shown below.
