The group project is designed as one of the means of getting the objective of the course achieved. The focus of the module has been on the development of models (deterministic) in the various areas of Manufacturing Planning.

To get the student interested in at least one of the functional areas of planning and control, in which the student would make a deep-dive and have a focussed direction for possible further research through the development of some new or extend some existing models.

The functional areas in Manufacturing Planning where models are presented, with examples of the classes of models considered in each category, are:

   1. Strategic/tactical (e.g. Regression, GLMs, Neural Networks, ARIMA/GARCH models for a business plan and S&OP)

3. MRP and CRP Models 

   1. Purchasing Models (EOQ, DEL, Joint replenishment models)

4. PAC models

5. Distribution and Replenishment

   1. Distribution (CFLP, VRP, Clustering Models)
