Annotated Bibliography Assignment:
Task:
An annotated bibliography provides a brief overview of the available research on a topic. Students may be required
to briefly summarise the research sources and/or assess the value of the source and/or reflect on the validity of this
source material for an assessment task. Each information source is accompanied by a citation that is followed by a
brief paragraph.
The task of compiling an annotated bibliography will help the researcher think about the relevance and quality of the material on a topic. Does the information meet the requirements of the topic? Is the information from a reliable and academically respected source?
For this assessment you will need to:
Locate, categorise and organise relevant research and perspectives on neuro-scientific research
Select one (1) academic journal article from week 6, one (1) academic journal article from week 7 and one (1) academic journal article from week 8 subject readings.
Compile an annotated bibliography of your selected articles. The annotated bibliography must include:
? Article details using APA referencing protocols
? A short statement that explains the main focus or purpose of the work
? A short summary of the theory, research findings or argument (e.g. intended audience, subjects covered, major arguments supported, research methods, conclusions reached, special features)
? A critical comment/reflection that describes the usefulness or relevance of the information to the neuro-science topics and early childhood education
Write a summative statement that identifies the implications of the articles for the early childhood sector and teaching pedagogies and strategies of enhancing children’s progression from lower order to higher order thinking and provision of executive functioning learning experiences in early childhood environments.
