Write an academic essay discussing how the theory of one of the following three authors might assist you to become a more effective teacher: Brookfield’s (2017) four lenses of critical reflection, or, Palmer’s (2017) notion of teacher identity and integrity, or, Howells’ (2012) theory of gratitude in education. In your introductory paragraph, provide a brief statement about your notion of an effective teacher, including the importance of reflection. You need to use the genre of academic essay writing, with a strong sense of audience awareness.
You are to write in the first person, with an introduction and conclusion, maintaining a cohesive paragraph structure throughout the essay. By convention, no headings or sub-headings are used in this genre. In your introduction, please include a sentence that indicates your area/s of specialisation in the Master of Teaching. You do not need to have read the complete Brookfield’s (2017), Palmer’s (2017) or Howells’ (2012) text, but may choose to focus on chapter/s that are relevant to your discussion. You must also include at least two other scholarly references to support your views, of which one could be one of the other theoretical choices (e.g., if you are writing on Brookfield, you can refer to Howells). You must use APA conventions to refer to the work of Brookfield, Palmer and Howells and other scholarly references. As with all assignments in this unit, please refer to the assessment task rubric (AT2 Rubric- see AT2 Template below) for more details about the requirements for this AT.
