Assessment instructions:
For this assessment task you will develop several project execution documents relating to a case study. The documents include a:
Templates for the documents listed below are available from Moodle:
1. Project Business Case.
2. Project Execution Plan.
Part A:
For this part of the assessment task you will need to work with others to analyse a case study and identify key stakeholders who will inform the development of a Project Business Case and Project Execution Plan.
Specifically, you will need to:
1. Form a group of between 2-5 fellow students.
2. Conduct a meeting in the presence of your assessor.
3. Read and analyse the case study in Appendix A.
4. Identify the key stakeholders within the case study.
5. Create a plan to engage those stakeholders.
Part B:
For this part of the assessment task you will need to develop a Project Business Case which addresses the case study outlined in Appendix A. You will need to engage with various stakeholders in order to obtain the relevant information to develop the Project Business Case.
Specifically, you will need to:
1. Individually, write a comprehensive business case based on the case study in Appendix A.
2. Ensure all sections of the Project Business Case template are completed in Appendix B.
3. Ensure that your Project Business Case:
a. Details an executive summary relating to the project.
b. Outlines the business problem that the project is addressing.
c. Outlines a proposed solution to the problem.
d. Outlines three possible future state scenarios that are based on the:
i. worst case scenario
ii. best (desired state) case scenario
iii. most likely case scenario
e. Details the feasibility of the proposed solution.
4. Have your trainer/assessor review and approve your business case before moving to the next part of this assessment task.
Part C:
For this part of the assessment task you will need to develop a Project Execution Plan. You will need to engage with various stakeholders in order to obtain the relevant information to develop the Project Execution Plan.
Specifically, you will need to:
1. Individually, write a Project Execution Plan using the template provided in Moodle.
2. Ensure all sections of the Project Execution Plan template are completed in Appendix C.
3. Ensure that your Project Execution Plan:
a. Describes the desired future state that the project seeks to achieve.
b. Outlines the gap between the current state and the desired future state.
c. Outlines procedures relating to governance of the project.
d. Outlines what outputs the project will deliver and when those outputs will be achieved.
Part D:
For this part of the assessment task you will need to develop a Project Governance Model. The model is to be a graphics overview of the governance arrangements relating to the project. See some examples of graphical governance models in the resources for this unit. Specifically, see ‘Developing an effective governance operating model’ by Deloitte.
Specifically, you will need to create a Project Governance Model that:
1. Provides a graphical overview of the governance arrangements.
Part E:
For this part of the assessment task you will need to engage one of the key stakeholders listed in the case study and present your documentation to them for feedback.
Specifically, you will need to:
1. Present your documentation to the stakeholder for feedback.
2. Ask for documented feedback from your stakeholder. This could be in the form of an email or other written documentation.
3. Submit the stakeholder feedback to your assessor with your other documentation.
Case study:
You have been engaged by the Australasia International School (AIS) to manage several projects that are being executed concurrently. AIS is a college with two offices in the Sydney CBD that is delivering nationally recognised training to students from Australia and internationally. AIS has several courses it delivers in the fields of Beauty Therapy, Massage, Business and Management.
